So, I recently got this awesome old book, The Memoirs of Le Duc de Saint Simon, on ebay for $6. I got it, thinking that it was old, but I wasn’t expecting it to be over 100 years old. Needless to say, I am very pleased.

Happy Birthday to one of the most Amazing women who had ever lived ~ • Princess Charlotte of Belgium, Archduchess of Austria, Empress of Mexico 7 June 1840 – 19 January 1927

She was born Princess Charlotte of Belgium but became famous the world over as Carlota, Empress of Mexico. From her earliest childhood she displayed the characteristics she would be known for throughout most of her life. She was extremely hardworking, despised idleness, very driven, very intelligent, very courageous and very independent while also being very devoted to those she loved. [more]

Charlotte is part of the forgotten in History, overshadowed by her sister-in-law the Empress Elisabeth of Austria. Still too often underappreciated, she was a generous, kind and thoughtful soul, but also a great and capable regent, courageous in adversity. One of the most amazing woman in history.

The greatest of all King Leopold I children imo
